According to Avesta News Agency, the Tajik Presidential Press Center reported that on March 31, President Emomali Rahmon launched the commissioning of the No. 8 coal mine project of the Angisht Joint Stock Company during a working visit to Isfara.

The Shurob No. 8 coal mine restoration project, implemented with the support of the Tajik government and development partners, involves modernizing the production line and upgrading key facilities. Currently, the project has created over 700 jobs and will gradually increase employment, including for local residents.

Following the implementation of subsequent phases of the project, coal production will gradually increase: 200,000 tons are planned for 2026, 700,000 tons for 2027, and exceeding 1 million tons annually from 2028 onwards. Currently, the mine employs 700 workers, and this number is expected to increase to 1,500 in the future.

The project has also included the construction of supporting production facilities, such as drinking water reservoirs, water supply systems, living quarters, and substations, creating conditions for efficient operation and ensuring the well-being of employees. The mine also features dormitories for 700 workers and an administrative service building with offices. The main building includes conference rooms, and sports fields are located nearby. Furthermore, landscaping and beautification efforts have been undertaken, with the planting of shade trees and ornamental flowers.

The report states that the commissioning of the No. 8 coal mine aims to ensure domestic market demand for locally produced coal and promote the development of the mining industry. The mine's operation is part of Tajikistan's policy to accelerate industrialization and will help expand production capacity, create jobs, and enhance energy potential.
